Oconee County’s NOW (Nurturing Oconee’s Workforce) Program is a joint effort between the Oconee Economic Alliance and the School District of Oconee County that will go into effect this fall.
The program’s main focus is to prepare student’s for the ever-evolving workforce of the future by making sure they have the skills and knowledge needed to fill those jobs.
“Local industries need well-prepared employees and Oconee County graduates need access to good employment opportunities,” says Richard Blackwell, the executive director of the Oconee Economic Alliance. “This program is a win-win for all parties involved.”
This fall 30 juniors from Oconee County high schools will participate. This includes attending monthly off-campus meetings that provide information on advanced employment skills, industry exposure, and networking with Oconee’s manufacturers.
