Milliken & Company launched a new corporate giving initiative on June 6 that supported local Spartanburg charities that aligned with the values of encouraging health, culture and education.

In addition to the United Way of the Piedmont, the Northside Development Group, Partners for Active Living and the Spartanburg Academic Movement all benefit from the over $500,000 raised.

“By supporting each of them, we hope to continue cultivating a thriving culture, promoting health and safety, and empowering the people of Spartanburg through education,” says Courtney Edwards, director of communications for Milliken & Company.

Employees were able to designate which charity their donation would go towards in an effort to help the giver feel closer to the cause they were helping. In addition, the Milliken Foundation matched each donation.

“Our goal was to educate our associates about where their donations would go, and it reflected in their generosity,” says Edwards. “Almost 50 percent of all Milliken associates at the Roger Milliken Campus contributed to the campaign.”
